Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior representative said the incident rendered him speechless and required to be resolved promptly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
